Our Mission

To contribute towards a safe and healthy environment by disposing all hazardous industrial waste generated by industrial units in Punjab.

Objectives Set Forth On Commencement of Project

The objectives set forth while planning the project are as under:-

• Creation of infrastructure to ensure proper analysis, collection, transport, transit, storage, treatment and disposal of hazardous waste.

• To have a system in place wherein industries in Punjab and surrounding areas are identified and send the generated hazardous waste for treatment and disposal to the facility.

• To follow the norms laid down in the Hazardous Waste (Management & Handling) Rules 1989 under Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.

• Implement directions of CPCB and the State Pollution Control Board on handling of hazardous waste.

• To ensure minimization of environmental impact.


• The facility has been operational wef 03rd Oct, 2007 and it can be safely said that the objectives set forth have been achieved satisfactorily.

• At present the facility has 1889 industries as members who are regularly sending hazardous waste to the facility. Since inception a total of 113763 tons of waste has been treated and disposed of in the landfill.

• All directions of CPCB and the PPCB are being followed in letter and spirit to ensure a cleaner environment by proper handling and disposal of hazardous waste.

• The major industries in Punjab have become members of the facility however small players still exist who are not members. At NGPL it is an ongoing effort on our part to get as many members as possible so that all hazardous waste is collected and treated to prevent the environment being polluted.
